Punjab cops find bike used by Amritpal Singh to escape, amid more arrests
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Police found the motorcycle used by Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh to escape on Saturday as the search for the leader continues on fifth day, today.
The motorcycle, Bajaj Platina, was found abandoned by a canal in Darapur area of Jalandhar, some 45 km away from the city, according to the police.
Meanwhile, four people were arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of helping Singh escape.
As part of intensifying efforts to catch the leader, police released seven photographs of him including those in which he is seen not wearing turban and sought help in arresting him.
When police continued searching for Amritpal Singh, he gave the police a slip by changing his vehicle on Saturday.
Initially during the police action he used a Mercedes vehicle before switching over to a Brezza SUV.
A recent photo of him circulating on social media showed Singh riding pillion on a bike wearing a pink turban and black goggles.
The new look suggests that he tried to change his appearance to escape the search of the police.
Meanwhile a CCTV clip of the Jalandhar toll plaza showed Amritpal Singh escaping in the SUV on Tuesday.
