Font Help

Dear Readers,

This document is intended to help you solve issues you may have faced in font display in the new ‘Madhyamam’ online version. We have categorized the solution based on the OS/Browser where issues have been reported. Please note that if you find issues with font sizing, there is an option to adjust font size on the top right side of the header on the website.

Windows XP with IE and Firefox browsers

Problem :Font display not proper/ No Malayalam font displayed.

Solution :
Please note that this is a one time process.

• Click on the link to download the font.http://www.madhyamam.com/font/thoolika.msi
• Install the downloaded font.
  • Installation steps IE
    • Click on Run button
  • Installation steps Firefox
    • Click on Save button
    • Go to saved location and run the file to install
    • Close your browser window and reopen

With this process the font issue would be solved. If the problem still persists, then please do the steps below.

In Internet Explorer

• Go to : Tools > Internet Options > Under 'General' tab, click on 'Font' button
• In the dialog box, choose 'Malayalam' in language script selection box and choose 'ThoolikaTraditionalUnicode' from the box below
• Click OK to save the selection

In Firefox

• Go to : Tools > Options > Under 'content' tab, in the 'Fonts & colors' section, click on 'Advanced' button
• Select  Malayalam in 'Fonts for' list
• Select 'ThoolikaTraditionalUnicode' in Serif, Sans-serif and Monospace fields
• Select 'Unicode (UTF-8)' in Character encoding field
• Click ok

Internet Explorer 8

Problem: Malayalam font display has problem

Solution: Compatibility mode in IE 8 browser to be activated, refer screenshot below

Click on the icon marked in red circle to activate compatibility mode.

Other OS

Problem: Font display not proper /No font displayed

Solution: Same as mentioned for Windows XP
